halloween in one week! yay! im gonna be a hogwarts student(:

i went to see phantom of the opera last wednesday with my dad at the pantages theatre!! i liked it alot...it was dark though. i kinda felt bad for the phantom at the end, but that's life(:

well i need to leave for church now.

my life has officially changed.
a new person has been added to our family. for 10 months. and her name is millie.
it all came about when nathan and i wanted to go to washington d.c. with our new school. it was too expensive and we didnt see how it would be possible. then, on the radio, my mom heard about a school called fairmont that needed people to host a chinese student for the year. we talked about it and eventually decided to do that so nathan and i could go on the trip. we decided that a girl would be the best for the family and we applied.
a 16 year old girl was placed with us. her name was manyu. (dont try pronouncing it because it'll be wrong.) she arrived on saturday with on e big suitcase for the year. she talked if asked a question and had fairly good english.
today was her first day being at school. she had testing. we'll pick her up at 4. i wonder what the next 10 months are going to be like?

well, i havent posted in like ages but only like 2 people read it so whatever.
ok, so since my last post, i've gone to an amazing summer camp called rock n water. we rock climbed, white water rafted, and went canyoneering! "do we order off the menu?" haha. like 15 people went. pretty amazing...
ummm...the day after i got back, my cousins from oregon came to visit!! last monday, we went to hollywood which was very fun...on tuesday we went to knotts. ! hehe. on wednesday, we went to the beach. later that day my cousins found out their dog had died. it was sad. on thursday, they visited other people. friday, we went shopping at brea mall and got some school clothes(: and on saturday, we saw the new karate kid! they went to church with us on sunday and they left today..sadness. 16 days till school starts... aaaahh!! im kinda nervous. i went to big sister/lil sister on friday and met some girls, but im still kinda sorta a lil nervous. but im kinda excited too! well i gtg.

well, my life hasnt been terribly exciting this summer...

the movies

what happens when two people go to see a PG movie that is about falling in love? well, many things can happen.
1. they don't like it.
2. they think it's amazing.
3. they weird things start to happen.

naomi and i went to see letters to juliet today. after we were dropped off, we got our popcorn and soda and headed in to watch the movie. when we walked down the aisle they always have at movie theatres, we were greeted by a site that made us wonder if we were in the right place. expecting to see younger people, we were surprised to find 7 old people there. no young people. just us. i think heads turned and watched us. we sat down a couple rows below the "elderly adults." thankfully, some younger people came later. i'll just call them "homeschoolers." some middle age women and a mom and daughter came completing the crowd.
after drinking a medium (more like huge) soda, large popcorn, and watching a movie, we needed to go to the bathroom. i held our drinks and popcorn while naomi proceded to the the women's room. she came out about 30 seconds later laughing histerically. she wouldn't tell me what happened, so i let it go. after i went, we sat outside on the steps waiting for my mom to pick me up. she told me that she saw a stall with the door open and went in. when she was about to close the door, she she realized a 5 year old girl was in there. not needing to go anymore, she raced out. after we laughed for like 5 minutes, my mom picked us up. fun end to a fun day? i have to say yes. although my day's not done. tonight i'm seeing CATS (the musical) with my mom.
how will that be?

well i guess i'll have to wait and find out!

ok seriously, dont u HATE when you forget stuff? like take now for instance; i was going to write something, but then my stupid brain had to forget it. why, brain, do u have to be so cruel?

wow. i seriously can not remember. anything.

well, i guess i'll have to entertain u another way. since nothing terribly exciting has happened in my life, i guess i'll use my imagination.

yes!!! never mind!! i REMEMBERED!!! gosh i love my brain.

so i have decided that im going to redecorate/paint my room. you might have known heard that via fb. aaaanyyway, the color is going to be sea life (weird name, right?) it's a light turquoise and i like it. see, my only problem is that i'm not sure how i want to redecorate it. yes, less clutter, more shelves, new bookcase, but im not an interior decorator! i dont know if it would look better if i rearranged my furniture or not. should i paint words on the wall? if so, what words? so many questions! i wish there was a website that allowed u to take a picture of your room, upload it, and then paint it, rearrange it, and add stuff to it. seriously, how cool would that be?! but i havent found a website like that. yet. im still hoping. if anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. heck, one of you should help me plan it! aw well. when ive figured out what i want, and how it'll be, i'll tell you. also, i'll post before and after pics.

ever since like 9:30 today. not even kidding. it started on the paper route, but that's another story.
so when i got home, i went upstairs to read for like an hour. i realized i had to write an essay because i didnt do it thursday....or friday....and i have 2 due this week instead of 1. grrr..
i got ready to start. paper? check. pencil? check. syllabus? check. bangs up so it doesnt bother me? double check.
so anyway, i sat down to write it. it's a letter. to alexander bell graham. graham bell. excuse me. so as i was thinking about what to write, i figured i should write down my topics. i wasnt focusing so i started highlighting certain things just to make it look nicer and all. after that i realized i have no idea why he's so amazing. ya he invented the telephone...but cmon. how has it impacted the world? i sat for like 5 minutes then realized why i was having a problem. because for like most of the year, we've been rewriting what other people have written and now i had to figure it out. by myself. along. *sigh*. so i got it work.
i couldnt think of anything. a candle was right in front of me so i started tapping it. haha. it made a funny noise. i stopped like after a minute. i started to work. the vacuum was turned on. well there goes my focus. then i hear something being sucked into the vacuum. well there goes my bookmark. (are you getting the title yet?) after about 10 minutes, i finished outlining the first paragraph. i thought i'd rather write about a clock. what would we do without them? what time is it right now? i resisted the urge to look. *a minute later.* (i was staring at the candle.) it'd be cool to have a photographic memory. i wish i had one. i write III. oooooo!! it looks like a roman column...haha. *back to work. mom comes down.* "is it your turn to empty the dishwasher?" i hop up glad for an excuse. i told my mom i felt ADHD cuz i couldnt focus. she said to eat something. i emptied the dishwasher then went to the fridge. peaches apple sauce yogurt *glanced at pantry* peanut butter... *back at fridge* peaches apple sauce....apple sauce.    i took it out and poured it. it looked weird. expiration date: 3/3/10   dang, that's already passed. oh well, i'll add blueberries to make it taste better. i sit back down at the table. it doesnt taste any better but im too lazy to get more. and to throw the old stuff away. so i finally got to paragraph 3, outlining the 2nd sentence. (it's this kind of outlining where u Key Word Outline [kwo] every sentence...grr..) my cat hopped on my lap. i pet her.    what if God made cats bald? i shuddered.  *one sentence later* who are those people talking outside? they're bothering me. stop talking people! are they visiting our neighbors? be quiet!   i look outside.   oh. it's my mom..and a neighbor talking. oops.   i finally make it to paragraph 4. im cold... im gonna close the window.  im about to get up to close it. my cat jumps up. grr... i go back to work. 2 seconds later, she gets down. thanks for breaking my fragile concentration, cat!   i get up and close the window.  *paragraph 5.*   yay. last 1. ugh. i'd rather be reading.   i thought of those bumper stickers that say, "id rather be _____"   haha. "id rather be studying." only a nerd would say that.
i finally finished. then i ran upstairs cuz i could write down a post that id been thinking about all through kwoing. it took me like 10 min to write this...it took me 45 to write a full notebook page of incomplete sentences.
pathetic.
im gonna finish my essay later......hopefully. let us pray this stupid jinx has stopped.. dang! i bet i jinxed it.

so my family went to heights today and had a meeting with mr esslinger. we were accepted! yay!
ate chick fil a! (free 12 count chicken nuggets...yyuuummm!)

its this amazing 50's diner.
the waiters/waitresses are so nice.
they'll throw the straws on the table and sit down to take ur order.
plus! a balloon person comes around.
AND! at the end they throw bubblegum on the table
for you to take home.
its amazing.

nathan has games tomorrow so he and my mom are staying.
elsa and i are doing announcements at church on sunday.

i watched the disney movie starstruck today. i liked it. wouldnt it be weird if that actually happened?

i was doing school today and it suddenly started to rain. then 30 seconds later it started sprinkling. then it stopped. weird.

seeing through the eyes of a child

 

i was in children's worship today with little first graders. the lesson was on fear. the little kids were telling me what they feared most.

 spiders.tigers.the dark.being alone.

isnt it interesting how for little kids, those are really scary? (well ok, if i was near a tiger in the wild and it was running towards me, id be scared.)

and the little things they take pride in. like painting pictures.

and their imaginations. they can take an amazing adventure in their own back yard and tell you what happened and where they went and all the amazing things they saw. 

like maybe they went on a hot air balloon ride. or went to the jungle and caught a tiger. or maybe deep down in the ocean and saw a mermaid. who knows? its their imagination. 

the things they get upset over. like dropped ice cream. someone cutting them while they were in line for the slide. a balloon being let go. dont you wish that was all you had to worry about upsetting you?

but to these kids, that's what life is like. fun. exciting. frustrating. but never boring. isnt that what most of us want? life to not be boring? but have we tried to find pleasure in the simple things that surround us? a daisy in the midst of weeds. the sun shining through the clouds on a rainy day. playing spy and catching the bad guy. being a kid again. 

but for me, im so busy. school.vball.church.friends.family. i dont have time for that. or do i?

how much time do i spend walking around the house doing nothing. being bored. when i could be doing something worthwhile or enjoying myself? when i was little i wanted to grow up so quickly, but now, i want it all to slow down. i dont want all these responsibilities. i want to be a little kid again. being afraid of the dark. painting a picture and showing it off. going to the jungle and catching a lion. being mad when i drop my ice cream. and stopping what im doing to look at a daisy growing in the weeds and pick it up.

i think we need to learn how to live life to its fullest and try to enjoy things through the eyes of a child.

avalanche and other stuff

so avalanche was AMAZING!!! so many memories!!

~apryll is better than me at snowboarding and it was her 1st time! (my second!)
~dehydrated water!
~apryll's and my contest! lol(: when we were at in n out heading back home, we were arguing about which way to spell ann(e). we both thought ours was better. so we asked everyone we knew, and these were the votes: 3 for ann and 13 for anne. mine was anne. haha lol. that was funny!

since avalanche:
~science camp. pretty fun! i learned which plants i can eat! there's this one plant called sticky monkey flower (weird name, right?) and u can stick it to u! i stuck it to my face and it stayed for like 4 hours.

~apryll's bday! shes 14!

~finished percy jackson and the olypians series the night the first movie based on the first book (the lightning thief) came out. (friday.) it was cool! (ik im weird xD)

~saw the lightning thief on monday with kirstin. they skipped SO much!!!!!! so here's an outline of what they had/skipped:  followed chapter 1. skipped chapter 2. followed chapters 3 and 4 (mostly). skipped chapters 5-7. partly followed chapter 8. skipped chapters 9 and 10. mostly followed chapter 11. skipped 12 and 13. kinda followed 14. skipped chapter 15. followed part of chapter 16 but kinda changed it. skipped 17. kinda followed 18. kinda followed 19. skipped 20. kinda followed 21. skipped most of 22.  PLUS!!!! they changed part of the story line so they're focusing on finding these pearls to get to the underworld instead of just getting to the underworld and stuff. its more complicated than that, but whatever. also, im not sure if they'll be able to do all the books from the series cuz the people in the movie were like 16, but they were supposed to be 12. it wouldnt work cuz in the 5th (last) a prophecy comes true when he turns 16. PLUS! they didnt even mention the oracle which has a big part to play. they also skipped ares and clarrise....oh well. the movie itself was pretty good, they just didnt follow the book that much. *sigh*

~i liked not having school on monday. it was nice(:  i wish i didnt have to anymore school left for the year. oh!!! guess what?!?!?!?! today is my 100th day of school! 80 more! xD

~oh. and happy mardi gras. have you gotten all ur sin out before ash wednesday tomorrow? lol. im gonna see the princess and the frog tonight at the dollar theatre. and im gonna have shrimp creole for dinner. both very new orleans things. home of mardi gras.

a couple days ago we were shopping for coats for avalanche and i left my phone in a store (kohle's), and when we were half way home i realized i didnt have my phone! we went back to the store and i looked exactly where my brother had left it and IT WASNT THERE!!! i was very sad and was positive someone had stolen it. my brother and i looked around the store calling my phone hoping we would hear it ring. we didnt hear it ring. my mom went to customer service and waited in line...  she called us as we were looking around the store and said that my phone was there. someone had found it and taken it to customer service. i was so happy!

i have nothing to write about...  what should i write about? nothing terribly exciting has happened to me. i kinda wish i was gonna go on this grand adventure full of danger. that would be exciting and i would have stories to tell for ages...i kinda wish i could go on an adventure like in the hobbit or something. oh well.... that's not ever gonna happen.

i have to do this book in a bag thing for star on the hobbit. i really like how it turned out. maybe ill post a picture of it...maybe.    so what should i write about?

once upon a time there lived two kids named anthony and isabella. anthony was 8 and isabella was 14. their parents had died recently and since they had no living relatives, they were in the foster care system.  they were with a particularly bad family when this story begins. the man and his wife didnt have any children, so they didnt know how to take care of kids. they werent mean or anything, they were totally focused on their work (they were writers). most of the time they forgot to buy food so the kids went hungry. they didnt have allowance even though they did all the house work. they hated their life and wanted to get away. but looking back on it, i bet they wouldnt have traded that life for anything. you see, there were bad times ahead.

now you add on to it.

my life...

my christmas was good. fun. interesting......

my new years was great. exciting. happy. fun. funny. crazy.

i went to kirstins and she naomi and i watched all 3 lord of the rings. (technically, they fell asleep for part of it so i watched them all.) we started at like 930 pm and ended at like 8 am. we watched the new years eve thing for like 45 min and did other stuff for 15. the movies were a total of 9 1/2 hours. it was great fun! we also played spoons and catch phrase and i mastered an awesome card trick.

last monday- thursday we went to palm springs. it was warm and we went swimming. it was weird swimming in a warm pool in winter :/ hmmm..... it was fun.

saturday was funn :) (:

sunday was fun.

monday was ok......

so.....i decided just right now that i wanted to write a limerick. i had to last year for school. it was fun and i like it.

so here it is:

there was a strong horse of nomtoo
that was very good friends with a shrew.
they had a great fight.
the shrew ran out of sight.
thus ended the fun of nomtoo.


that was very lame.

oh well it was fun. here's another:

there once was a teacher named brad
who was killed by a lonely old hag.
his ghost reappered
and scared the jeepers-beliered
out of that nasty mean hag.

wow this is fun!

but was stopped an old billy goat.
